Where it started
"My parents taught me honesty, truth, compassion, kindness and how to care for people. Also, they encouraged me to take risks, to boldly go. They taught me that the greatest danger in life is not taking the adventure."
Brian Blessed
This quote has a lot of meaning to me because it very accurately depicts my situation. Growing up, my mother always encouraged me to try new things and to get out of my comfort zone. She also taught me to treat every one with respect and dignity, no matter their age. Every person has unique experiences and knowledge to share and that is something that I value. Moving to North Carolina was big change for me but I knew that I could handle it and so did my mother. She encouraged me to take this risk and hopefully reap the benefits. Fortunately it was a success, I really love it here and I'm trying new things each week. When I was 16 she let me drive to Florida with a good friend for a summer trip. We funded it ourselves and we had a blast. We traveled from St. Augustine, to West Palm Beach and many other places all in a week. I encourage everyone to take at least one major risk in their life, even if it fails, it will still be a great learning experience.
